Mowing the yard
Alex gave a try at mowing the yard for the first time today.

Renaissance Festival
On Saturday, October 18th, Daddy and the boys went to the Great Plains Renaissance Festival. It was our first time to attend. We saw a lot of neat things and had some good food too.

Alex started the day by trying to climb a pivoting rope ladder.
Zach played a game where he tried to sink boats in a small swimming pool using this hand-held catapult.

We watched a puppet show of "The Princess and the Pea".
Singing pirates... insert your own witty/sarcastic/naughty comment here.
This was a group called Heavy Metal. They wore real armor and would bash the flop out of each other with everything from swords, to maces, to baseball bats.

Family time
Tonight we spent the evening at Opa and Oma's house. Great-grandma Jantz was in town from Kansas City. It was the first time that Emily was able to meet great-grandma.

MREs
A friend of ours from church gave the boys a couple of real Army MREs. (Meal Ready to Eat)
Alex did not care for the Linguini Alfredo that was the entree in his meal.
The possibility of Alex being a CO (conscientious objector) looks pretty good right about now.
You would think that Zach had never received peanut butter before.
